Efforts to switch FM, perlu kah??

Remember this post? 

I was so desperate to find a formula milk that Izzuddin can drink but he rejected most of the milk that I gave him. I even bought 1kg of Dumex Dugro Cereal just so that he will try drinking something sweet, but nope.. hopeless. And at that time, it was already crucial coz we can’t really rely on fresh milk and UHT only (which Izzuddin really2 likes!) 

I no longer think about the highest DHA, AAAA, immunofortis and those additional stuff they put in FM. 
(FM bought was Enfagrow and you know the price!)
I am now concerned that he needs a drink that can quench his thirst and at the same time provide him calcium & protein. Yes, if dia tak particular,  I might be giving the best or expensive FM available in the market, but thinking that most FM will taste a bit similar, i passed this choice.

Until one of my officemate suggested, Dumex Dugro Choc… she said her daughter drank that sampailah umur dia sekarang 6years. oooh… i thought, maybe Izzuddin is like his abi, cannot drink anything ‘white’.. but susu coklat boleh (as long as he doesn’t see the white thing) 
hmmm… really eh?
So I went to Carrefour and bought the smallest packet of Dumex Dugro Choc Lazat 1+. 
Takdelah small pun, i don’t even  remember the grams of the packet. 
And balik2 I bancuh skit masuk cawan… and gave him the cup. He sipped and macam suka. Again he sipped again… and again… and again…. 
Wah.. wah… 
This is something interesting… hehe.. 
So now what? Boleh masuk botol plak tak?? 
I tried…. Nope. He doesn’t want to even drink it. 
So I poured the milk into the cup again… and he continued sipping it. 
YES! FINALLY!!!

So there you go… he chose this one in particular. 
And his way of drinking the milk, is by a cup. No, sippie cup pun tak boleh… he refused it. 
Nak minum macam orang besar. Cheh! 

By the way, how did I convince him drinking the milk if it was choc colour anyway. 
The day before, I poured his favourite UHT choc flavour Dutch Lady into the cup.. and asked him to drink it. He liked it that he can see the colour, so he drank it coz it was sweet… so yeah, first step succeeded.
So the next step was to give the same cup and when he looked at the colour, same… so of course he drank the FM!! So now I’m happy :D  
When abi saw this, his first reaction “Berapa harga susu ni??“ 
Yeah, I’m sure this will be your concern after this , after we stop giving him EBM. 
But luckily, your son pilih susu murah… so don’t think it will burden our pockets.
Nursery pun dah bagi feedback, he drinks it in the cup, but will drink it from the blue straw UHT tu. 
He’ll drink half a cup and stop… so basically this is the FM I will be giving to nursery.

But since knowing that I won’t be going for duty travel as scheduled… is it really necessary? 
Some mothers also think that its the right time to even wean him completely. 
But when I pump, I still will get at least 4oz + 4 oz… so to compliment this, I’ll be sending 2bottles x 3oz , 1 UHT and the rest is FM. I’ll start this week. So later on, we can stop sending UHT and give it only when he’s at home. 
So if somebody can suggest a cubic bottle/cup that has a straw please telll me ah… 
so we don’t have to burden nursery and he can drink the FM by himself without tumpah sana sini. 

I guess I am a bit relieved, sbb no pressure on collecting EBM stock anymore. 
But i’m sure gonna miss this routine task once Izzuddin really does wean off nanti. 
That’s another episode for us to face later.

izzuddin tak suka susu FM. 

or maybe coz I was the one giving it to him, of course lah dia taknak kan… 
kena tinggalkan dia kejap ngan hubby dia or adik ipar nnt, pastu suruh diorang try plak. 
 



however, thinking of trying other FM until we succeed. 

i just cannot get as much EBM for may (ehem..ehem) to leave him for a week. 
so will need to teach him on FM FAST! 

and knowing that i can get around 10oz per day at the office, its just not enough. 
redha yg umminyer dpt BF till he’s 18M. itu pun dah campur2 minum air susu kotak, jus.  
moga2 berjayalah switch to FM in a short time :D  

p/s : please note that i will continue BF during night time once dah berjaya ni. no worries pro-BF mommies :D

keputusan untuk memberi izzuddin susu formula perlu dilakukan. 
stok beku susu dah habis dan milk production saya tak bertambah, tetap sahaja sebanyak 12oz setiap hari. 
sesi mengepam untuk petang pun dah ku jarang lakukan di pejabat dan pam hanya bila ku balik sampai ke rumah.   

seandainya ku kena kursus/outstation, memang tak boleh buat apa lah… kenalah kasi izzuddin FM. 
tp which FM yg izzuddin nak minum?? dia memang dah cerewet pilih makanan/minuman. 

so kena cuba sampai berjaya kan… 

first trial: lactogen2. letak kt nursery since umur setahun. tp nursery kt mmg dia taknak minum. 

second trial: enfagrow original. dia tak suka langsung rasa susu FM ni. 

third trial: sustagen junior perisa vanilla. ni dapat sampel. mula2 try guna sudu, dia minum. bila cuba ngan botol, terus dia taknak. 

forth trial: nan2… bapak mahal tin susu kecik dia… try gak, taknak. ku rasa, ada similar ngan susu ibu, tak rasa pekat mcm FM lain. tp kurang manis mcm susu ibu. (aik… ku pernah rasa ker? hahah.. of course!)

fifth trial: dutch lady 123 choc. taknak gak kalau kasi dlm botol susu… tak pernah plak try guna cawan. 

ok, then we stopped for a while, and now we supply him with 3oz x 3 bottles of EBM and 2dutch lady kotak either choc or full cream. yg UHT ni mmg takde problem nak minum… 
will still try again on the FM bought, sbb sayang kan susu tu… 

anybody got good tips on how to persuade him on FM?? 
please, need the advice really much.

bukannya ku taknak pam lagi dah. its just we really need a backup if something happens.
dan ku masih feed dia di malam hari. 
and at the same time, this will  be the time for us to make him more independant… 
taklah bergantung sangat pada ummi nyer… sekarang ni izzuddin bergantung sgt sbb rindukan susu umminya.

the only drawback of formula is, kena selalu panaskan air panas (boleh guna water heater yg simpan air tu) dan kena basuh botol, puting which hmmm.. sangat malas ok. 

maybe i should just use botol biasa ngan puting biasa? or maybe cawan je? sbb dia dah set in mind, dalam botol adalah susu ummi sahaja. so apa sahaja yg lain, dia uwekkan… kalau ada video mmg nak letak je kt blog ni. 
sape2 ada suggestion??

milky way? lets just say i’ve always liked this chocolate since i was a kid. 
baru sekarang ni rasa manis sangat, and prefer twix more. 
tiap kali masuk kedai mesra tu, mesti singgah shelf coklat, and buy 1 bar of twix. 
what to say, i’m a choc lover. 

anyway this entry is actually about milk thought.
mengenai formula milk, which one is the best. 
i’ve never actually did any research on formula milk, not even thought about it. 
but now is the time… why ek?? bukan ke fully breastfeeding? 
yup.. but my EBM stock sudah tinggal satu plastik sahaja. selebihnya bergantung kepada “expressed today, send tomorrow” 
so what if i cannot pump as frequent as i used to? 
what if i have to go outstation, and come back late at night? 
what if i can only get like 5oz everytime i pump… worse case, pump and get 2oz… stress maaa!!! 

anyway all the questions appeared for me to give it a thought.
to get formula milk as a backup at izzuddin’s nursery. 
while most mommies already settled with this situation, ages a go. 
i find myself only now to think about it. lambat kan?? hmmm…. 
i posted a question to other mommies in FB, so i can get some guide about this. 
either to use formula milk, or go with fresh milk – which i have already introduced before to izzuddin. 
by the way, he likes chocolate UHT dutch lady. cannot boikot lah, best choc flavoured drink in town… ;p 
he seems like me, suka chocolate. 
or maybe he’s like abi, who can only drink choc uht. no pure white milk ok?? 
i lived in oversea before, i can stand the pure whitness… it taste creamier!! hehe… 

back to the topic… i posted and these are some of the replies, thanks to all who gladly replied so i could get some info or options to think.
well, i won’t put all the feedback… :D
i know bf mommies sure akan pro bf gak, utk kasi option fresh milk in the list. yes, i am a pro bf but somehow i was wondering cukup ke nutrien in fresh milk tu? dahlah ku jarang makan buah (tak sempat ke kedai selalu) so anak pun sama lah kan… but i do try my best to give him vegetables whenever possible. 

another thing to be worried about, is constipation? 
selalunya bila baby minum FM ni, ada masalah sembelit. 
also on cow-allergy, if ada… but i don’t think so coz dia ok je minum susu dutch lady tu.
so kena baca all the reviews and situation, and tak dibebani rasa serba salah for being ignorant. 
gugel pun dah ada, so can find lots of info now. 
this entry will be continued coz belum start pun lagi research on FM. 

so blur lah… it’s like learning a new thing, all together!
